What do you do at a gas station when you fill up besides buy gas/drugs/cigarettes? Even though I know it isn't necessary, I still check my oil with every fill up. It's a good habit to have with Emma, but my truck doesn't benefit at all. Good night y'all

Clean my windows, unless the bucket thing is dry. Alternatively, the person riding shotgun cleans while I pump. Or they run inside for any necessary snacks/food/drinks.

Clean the windshield if it needs it.

I check my oil (and various other systems) at night after I get home. I only pump gas at gas stations. Unless I'm really hungry, or am super craving a Mello Yello. That happens about three times a year. Sometimes, I talk to this one attendant who really likes my car.

Gotta watch the road for cool cars! They always pass by when you're filling up. Also, hug any rad machines that are at the station of gas.

EDIT: hug the owners

Clean rear window as needed, try to finish before tank is full.
Record fill up in aCar app, then check MPG of last tank, this either puts me in a good mood (40+) or pisses me off (<36).

If I'm at a large station I tend to scan the other pumps for interesting cars.

Spotted one of these the other day, in this exact color, complete with the side stripes that said MGB. It was obviously well used and well loved. The owner was younger than the guys in the pic, and younger than me. Garage queens and driveway/lawn sculptures are not my thing. Cars are meant to be driven and enjoyed. The car was not perfect by any measure, in fact it had a great patina. Just the way I like my cars: no BS, no fear of a scratch. I took the opportunity to chat up the owner and compliment him on the car. I'd seen it around and always wondered whose it was. Suppose I got my answer.

1. Clean the windshield if it needs it. Use a paper towel to mop some of the cleaning fluid, then clean the wiper blades with it. Gets the road grime off the blades and they work better.

2. Piss (as needed).

There's a Sunoco near my house where I typically end up when my "fun car" ('74 Porsche 914) needs a refill. One time I pulled in to find a '74 911 Euro RS there too - had a great chat with the owner. Another time, the pumps were horrendously slow (over 10 minutes to pump 10 gal) and a couple of the mechanics came out to chat about the 914.

I like to clean my windows and check my mileage too. I don't track it but I do calculate it and try to stay around or above 30mpg (best I've done is about 35, all highway, driving quickly but plenty of drafting, but that's rare).

Toss out empty coffee cup and/or any trash from the can or purse.

Scratch me bum.

Wipe off bird poo or clean any windows that need it.

Get more tea/coffee/munchies/etc.

Reapply lip gloss.
